Wooden Wax Seal

I just had to post a picture of a wooden wax seal that I have been working on for RageHaus. I am absolutely tickled by the results!

I had a lot of concerns when I first started this project. My biggest concern was well, using wood. Wood, unlike metal seals, is porous which means the wax has plenty of nooks and crannies to latch onto. I prevented this from happening with two techniques. First, I sealed the wood with stain. We only had a dark walnut which makes it hard to see the monogram. Second, I dipped the seal in oil and blotted it on a paper napkin before pressing it into the wax. The seal didn’t stick to the wax at all and I love the results. I am so ecstatic about pulling off this project that I plan on posting a tutorial on how to make and use a wooden seal.

As for why I created this seal, that answer will come at a later date. Let’s just say that this seal will add a certain je ne sais quoi to my project.

Oh, and by the way, tomorrow Derek will be posting about the project that I gave a sneak peek of earlier this week. It’s going to be a good one.
