The catch-all category. Anything else that doesn’t really fit the other pages winds up here. These are incomplete ideas, one time endeavors, odd and ends, and anything else that doesn’t have a home.
Styrofoam Cups in Fence Typography (Derek)

When I was a kid, I used to play a lot of little league baseball. In order to keep our water cups clean, we stored them in the holes of the chain-link fence in front of the dugout. I took this childhood memory and developed it into these three phrases unique to baseball.
Christmas Lights + Matte Board (Kim)

So, I’ve had this idea to transform some Christmas lights and some super thick matte board into a light sign for RageHaus. Come to think of it, both items were freebies. My mother gave me the two boxes of string lights and the matte board came from a local art supply store that gives away scraps.
Basically, I took the matte board and marked where the holes should go. Then I drilled out all the openings, and popped in the lights.

Of course there are things I would modify if I were to do it again. Like some of the holes are too close causing the back side of the lights to bump into one another and the letter E is pretty hard to make out. Yet, overall I think it’s a pretty successful project for one hour worth of work. I will probably only plug it in when I can supervise it considering the crammed wiring on this bad boy, I don’t want to take any chances.
He’s Watching You (Derek)
A quick, fun image that I blew up on the copier at work. Kim had the idea to put it in our studio window at home since we have still yet to get curtains.
Chilly Wienie (Kim)
It’s November and Newport News has already had snow twice, including this morning. With the sudden onset of cold weather I wanted to keep our miniature dachshund, Bowser, warm when we take him on walks. I starting knitting him a sweater about two weeks ago but little did I know that I would need to put it on him so soon.

I got the knitting pattern from a book of dog sweaters called Dog Gone Cute. Yeah, the name made me want to throw up too, but until I can make my own patterns I’ll have to put up with the cutesy names. Apart from the name, the design of the sweater is rather handsome. As you can see it incorporates a cable stitch on the back of the sweater. This is my first try at knitting a cable stitch pattern and I was delighted to see it come together after a few rows. The other perks of this sweater include the lovely collar and the ribbing around the sleeves and at the bottom of the sweater.
Humphy The Elephant (Kim)
When I first saw this adorable elephant knit pattern at ysolda.com, I knew I had to make one for myself.
Mohawk Knit Hat (Kim)
I didn’t want Derek to have just any ol’ knit hat but one that would show off his personality. I got this pattern from the book Domiknitrix.
Word-It: “Next”, “Tradition”, “Crazy”, “Under” (Derek)
Every month, Speak-up picks a word and asks for an open interpretation for it. I did a few months worth and was satisfied with the results. Great for getting out of a rut.
